Magic: The Gathering Arena Officially Launches September 26

Magic: The Gathering

September 4, 2019

After a successful Open Beta, Magic: The Gathering Arena is officially launching the game and removing the Open Beta tag on September 26 with the release of Throne of Eldraine.

With more than 1 billion games played during Open Beta and Magic streaming more than doubling over the previous year, we could not be prouder of the game's success. MTG Arena has helped Magic become a true esport with exciting, popular, and accessible gameplay through Mythic Championships and Invitationals that set viewing records for Magic events.

We’ll share more details on updated features for the launch as part of the September 19 State of the Beta.

Simultaneous with the official launch of MTG Arena, we'll be releasing Throne of Eldraine, a new world featuring an Arthurian legend and fairy-tale aesthetic with Magic's signature twists. Players can start playing Throne of Eldraine on September 26, or they can check out a special preview event happening right now. The Eldraine Courtside Brawl event runs now through September 9. Not only does the event let you play with decks based on the paper versions of the highly anticipated Throne of Eldraine Brawl preconstructed decks, but players can earn rewards including Throne of Eldraine cards through this special 1v1 Brawl preview event.

MTG Arena's launch is just the start. The game will launch on the Epic Games Store this winter, followed by macOS sometime after that. We plan to expand MTG Arena to even more new places, new platforms, and new experiences, while delivering deliver top-requested community features over the next year.

Last, but certainly not least, we want to thank everyone who helped make Magic: The Gathering Arena the great game it has become—including Beta testers, Open Beta participants, and fans who streamed or watched games and events. We built this game alongside you, and we can't wait to see where we take it next.
