Today is the Global Day of Joy.
In case you haven't heard of it, Global Day of Joy is a day set aside during the holiday season for Hasbro employees to dedicate their time to volunteer projects, acts of kindness, and toy and game donations. To put it simply, it's a chance for everyone in our company to help make the world a better place for children and families across the world.
That's why I'm excited about Wizards of the Coast's participation in Hasbro's fifth annual Global Day of Joy. Last year, a newly minted Wizard, I joined my colleagues at the Ronald McDonald House in Seattle to play games with kids. It was an amazing experience to sit down for a moment of pure fun with kids—and their siblings—who had been through so much trauma in their short lives. Their resilience is humbling. That afternoon has stayed with me all year, and I can't wait to return to Ronald McDonald House again this year.
Here in Wizards of the Coast's backyard of Seattle, over 380 employees will participate in 20 different initiatives. Our teams have a lot of experience bringing joy to fans through our games every day, and this is a great chance for everyone at Wizards to be a more direct part of that process.
While Global Day of Joy sets aside a specific day for employees to volunteer, Wizards of the Coast is committed to bettering our communities year-round. A new initiative this year is Hasbro's Be Fearless, Be Kind, which is designed to empower kids to have the empathy, compassion, and courage to stand up for others and be inclusive throughout their lives. In fact, our president, Chris Cocks, along with other members of the Wizards team will lead a workshop at a local Renton, Washington, middle school early next year as a part of that initiative.
No matter how you celebrate the holiday season, we hope you'll join us today in celebrating Global Day of Joy in your own way, and put a little more kindness out into the world.
